Day 45 (6/4) - when the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie that's amore'

Day 45 - 18.7 mi/532.3 mi tot
Dickey Gap to USFS Road 86 (4.2 mi N of Partnership Shelter)

Had a huge morning today covering 14.5 miles by 12:30 and a first lunch of PB&J&Nutella on tortillas at Partnership Shelter. This shelter is directly adjacent to the Mt Rogers National Recreation Area Headquarters. From this very nice building hikers can use a dedicated phone to place a pizza delivery order. So that was lunch #2, a 14-inch meat lovers pizza. I ate that during the nice 3.5 hour break I took on the shaded porch. Dan and I then hung out with Radar, Peru and Bluegrass while they waited for, and got, their pizzas and eventually decided to push on another 4 miles to make tomorrows hike a little more convenient.

Unfortunately this means I cut a full day out of this section of trail and have food left that I will have to carry over into the next section. Oh well, it will all get used eventually. We will be into Atkins in the morning to resupply and hopefully move onward after another good lunch at a restaurant, or at least a truck stop.

Still looking forward to next week and meeting up with Princess (she gets her trail name back once she is out here.

Pizza!! Pizza!!
